Samantha | Navigation Menus
After you install the Samantha Theme and import the demo content, it is very important to set up your navigation menus. Samantha have the (4) navigation menu location
- Primary Menu– the menu found below your header or logo
- Secondary – you can assign a menu for this location. The Samantha theme did not use this menu. You can set it in the widget area or in the footer area.
- Mobile – the menu that you can see in mobile devices only
- Footer – the menu at the bottom of your website. You can create a menu item and set it in the footer area of your website. In the theme Samantha, the Menu “Quick Links” was set to “Footer Menu” and was placed in a widget.
Primary Navigation
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus.
- Click Create a New Menu. Give your menu a name (such as “Primary Menu”) and click Create Menu.
- Add the pages/categories you want to have in your primary navigation menu.
- At the bottom of the page, under Menu Settings, select Primary. Save Menu.
Secondary Navigation
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus.
- Click Create a New Menu. Give your menu a name (such as “Secondary Menu”) and click Create Menu.
- Add the pages/categories you want to have in your secondary navigation menu.
- At the bottom of the page, under Menu Settings, select Secondary. Save Menu.
Mobile Navigation
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus.
- Click Create a New Menu. Give your menu a name (such as “Mobile Menu”) and click Create Menu.
- Add the pages/categories you want to have in your mobile navigation menu.
- At the bottom of the page, under Menu Settings, select Mobile. Save Menu.
Footer Navigation
- In your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus.
- Click Create a New Menu. Give your menu a name (such as “Footer Menu”) and click Create Menu.
- Add the pages/categories you want to have in your footer navigation menu.
- At the bottom of the page, under Menu Settings, select Footer. Save Menu.
Optional: Top Bar
Want to add an announcement message or social icons above your header menus?
- Go to Appearance > Customize > Header.
- Locate the Header Builder at the bottom
- In the Top Row, click the + icon to add a new element. For a announcement text, use the HTML element. You can also add elements like social icons, a search icon, a custom button, and more!
To customize the Top Row (background color, height, padding, etc), click on the Design tab in the settings panel.
To customize individual elements — such as the font of the HTML announcement — click on the element you want to customize and then go to the Design tab in the settings panel.
